There’s about three things that a musician wants to know when they’re thinking about going into a studio to record. One, is the room conducive to a good recording; in other words, is it big enough. Does it have good sound, absorption, etc. Two, is the equipment, (everything from mics to computers to recording software) worthy of top level quality. Three, does the atmosphere lend itself to comfort and creativity? After my tour of Soulshaker Studio, I can honestly say that Jason has gone above and beyond to provide the absolute best in all three of these areas. The room is great, the equipment is top notch, and when you step in… you’re ready to rock Baby!

I’ve probably recorded more audio than anyone in Jason’s studio as I’m in The Mashup Band with him. We’ve tracked, mixed and mastered a lot of our music in the studio and exceeded our expectations. I’ve watched him work on other peoples music as well and once he’s involved in a project he’s all in. No matter the talent level or style or any other factor he just becomes impassioned and part of it. He really is an artist that lives in breathes music and his studio is his sanctuary.

Jason is a consummate professional as a musician and recording artist. As a sound engineer, I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my music. He’s got “the ear“ for it.  Further, he is incredibly fun to work with which makes the entire process one of the best I’ve ever had in any studio anywhere.

I have recorded here a few times, it’s a laid back atmosphere, well equipped studio that can accommodate all sorts of music and musicians! I would definitely recommend!  

As a professional trumpet player of over 30 years, I've spent the majority of my time playing live on stage, however I've had very little studio experience. Recording sessions can be an intimidating situation but my time spent with Jason Newcomb and his studio, Soulshaker Studio, could not have been any better. He put me at total ease not only with his calm demeanor but his ability to fine tune the sound of my horn and make it sound incredible. Jason is a great guy and an awesome guitar player. About ten years ago Jason and I made an album together. He had minimal equipment back then which he set up in a spare bedroom in his house. The recordings turned out great. The production was superb. I can only imagine the quality of work he can produce now that he has a full fledged recording studio.
